Introduction

Generic Asacol is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug. It works by preventing the body from making certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling. It may also be prescribed in the treatment of Crohn's disease.


Use

Generic Asacol is prescribed during the treatment of ulcerative colitis, which is a kind of bowel disease. The medication does not treat ulcerative colitis, but reduces the intensity of the symptoms like diarrhea, stomach ache. It also reduces the rectal bleeding occurring due to irritation/swelling in the colon/rectum.

Mesalamine is the active ingredient present in the composition of Generic Asacol.
