Generic DTIC-Dome injection is light sensitive colorless liquid used in the treatment of cancer. The medication is known to interfere with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. Primarily used in the treatment of skin cancer and Hodgkin's disease, generic DTIC-Dome injection is an anticancer agent, which is reconstituted and intravenously administered.


Generic DTIC-Dome injection is used in the treatment of certain types of cancer like skin cancer and Hodgkin disease. The medication is also used for the treatment of malignant melanoma along with some more conditions other than cancer.

Side effects

Patients must immediately seek medical help in case of any of the side effects. Some of the commonly occur side effects associated with the injection include: • Fever • Body aches along with Flu symptoms • Severe vomiting • Unusual bleeding • Pale skin • Light headed feeling • Rapid heart rate • Short of breath • Upper stomach pain However, this is not the complete list of side effects as some of the less serious side effects include loss of appetite, diarrhea, temporary hair loss, or mild skin rash. In case of any unusual signs or symptoms one should immediately consult with doctor.


DTIC-Dome injection must be stored in a cool and dry place. The injection must be stored in refrigerator at 2-8°C however injection should not be stored in deep freeze.


Active ingredient in generic DTIC-Dome injection is Dacarbazine.

Important Precautions

It is essential for the patients to discuss their health conditions to the doctor before taking DTIC-Dome injection. Patients who are hypersensitive or allergic to Dacarbazine or to any other drugs or food need to notify their doctor about their conditions. Even the patients with medical history like liver disease, kidney disease, congestive heart failure, heart disease, gout, infections or diabetes must inform the doctor before taking the injection. Even the pregnant and breast feeding women should consult with the doctor as the medication can cause harm to the unborn baby and to the child.

Dosage and administration

The dosage of generic DTIC-Dome injection varies from individual to individual according to their medical conditions and response to the therapy. However, the initial dosage prescribed for the treatment of melanoma is 2–4.5 mg/kg daily for 10 days, which may be repeated at four week intervals. Alternative dosage for this is 250 mg/m2 daily for 5 days, which may be repeated at 3 week intervals. Doctors prescribed dosage for Hodgkin’s disease is 150 mg/m2 daily for 5 days in combination with other antineoplastic agents.

The injection is administered into a vein through an IV by your doctor or any medical practitioner. It is often recommended to patients to not to eat anything for four to six hours because eating can lead to severe nausea or vomiting. The administration process must always be discussed with doctor to obtain the proper treatment. One should strictly follow the doctor’s direction and should take at regular interval without any missing any dose or overdosing of the medication.


In case of overdose, patients should immediately seek necessary medical attention.
