Generic Rheumatrex acts by interfering with the development and spread of certain cells of the body, especially cells that multiply at an alarming rate, such as cancer cells, bone marrow cells, and skin cells. Generic Rheumatrex is followed by other medications, after they have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.


Generic Rheumatrex is prescribed for the treatment of certain kinds of cancer of the breast, skin, head and neck, or lung. It is also prescribed for treating intense psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Side effects

Common side effects caused by this medication are headache, blurred vision, nausea, tiredness, and vomiting, upset stomach, bleeding of your gums, blurred vision, and dizziness. These side effects do not need instant medical attention but, they should be discussed with the doctor. On the other hand, serious side effects include problems like dry cough, shortness of breath, urinating less than usual or not at all, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice, diarrhea, vomiting, white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, blood in your urine or stools, sore throat and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash, pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, and weakness.


The medicine should be stored at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C). Do not store it in the bathroom and keep it safe from the reach of light and moisture.


Methotrexate is the active component of this composition.

Important Precautions

• Before taking the medicine, tell your doctor if you have or have had any kidney or liver diseases. Also, inform your doctor if you have or have had alcohol abuse problem, suppressed immune system, blood cell/bone marrow disorders. • Do not operate and heavy machinery or drive. • Do not have immunizations/vaccinations without consulting your doctor and keep away from contact with people who have lately taken oral polio vaccine. • Use caution with sharp edged objects to keep safe from activities such as getting cut, bruised, or injured. • Clean your hands nicely to prevent the spread of infections. • The medication can cause harm to the unborn, so do not take it if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. • Do not breastfeed, while you taking the medication.

Dosage and administration

Take the medication as exactly prescribed by your doctor. The dosage is fixed in accordance to your health condition and your body’s response to the therapy. It should be taken orally. Do not increase the amount or duration without consulting your doctor. Before taking the pills, read all the instruction given on the label or the leaflet. For psoriasis management or rheumatoid arthritis, normally, the dose is once a week.


In case of overdose suspicion, seek emergency medical help as soon as possible. Also, inform your doctor immediately. Severe nausea, vomiting, bloody stools are the symptoms of overdose.
