Generic Rhinocort Aqua comes from the family of drugs called corticosteroids. It acts by decreasing the inflammation or swelling in the nasal passages. It has the potent glucocorticoid activity and frail mineralocorticoid activity.


Generic Rhinocort Aqua is prescribed for the prevention and treatment of seasonal and year-round allergy symptoms. These symptoms are stuffy, runny nose, itchy eyes and throat, and sneezing. The medication is also prescribed in some cases for the treatment of growths in the nose (nasal polyps) or to put off their return post the removal by surgery.

Side effects

Some of the common are easily manageable side effects of Generic Rhinocort Aqua are cough, sneezing, headache, nose/throat dryness or irritation, nosebleeds, and unpleasant taste/smell. Other more serious side effects that may demanad instant medical attention are vision problems, symptoms of too much corticosteroid like unusual acne, menstrual period changes, and puffy face. The list also includes loss of taste or smell, pain/sores in your nose, poor immunity to infections, allergic reactions, dizziness, wheezing and breathing problems.


Store the medication at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) with the protective cap in place. Keep container vertical. Maintain medicines away from children and pets.


Budesonide is the active ingredient in the composition.

Important Precautions

Make sure that it is a nasal spray and you do not use it for any other body part. Keep your eyes safe from the spray. If you are taking the medication for the first time, inform your doctor about your allergies and other medical problems, especially if you have had or having eye problem or nose problems such as injury, surgery, infection, and ulcers. If your child is taking this medication then, monitor his or her growth, it may slower the rate of growth, however, it happens very rarely. Pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding infant should consult doctor, before taking the medication.

Dosage and administration

The medication is meant for nose only. The normal prescribed dose is 1 or 2 sprays in each nostril in a day. The course can be carried on for 2 days or more, as per your doctor’s prescription. Clean your nose by blowing off before using the medication. Make sure to read the instructions well on the label or the patient leaflet before using the spray.


In case of suspecting an overdose, call your doctor immediately. If the condition of the patient appears critical, call the nearest emergency medical assistance.
