Vitneurin is a supplementary product which contains Thiamine, Pyrdoxine, Cobalamin, and Dexpanthenol. D-panthenol is a water soluble vitamin and acts by protecting the myelin (the covering of nerve cells), producing energy from consumed nutrients, prevents neural tube defects, maintains healthy red blood cells, support immune function, regulate cell growth, aid in production of hormones, has a role in the prevention of the sprouting of cancer cells and maintains healthy skin, hair, and nails.


D-panthenol is indicated for clients diagnosed with pernicious anemia, certain neuropathies such as peripheral neuritis, diabetic and alcoholic polyneuritis, trigeminal neuritis. Clients with hyperemesis gravidarum, vitamin B complex deficiencies, anorexia nervosa, agranulocytosis, radiation sickness, celiac disease, and steatorrhea are also given Vitneurin. During the administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics, Vitneurin is also given.

Side effects

D-panthenol is well tolerated, it must be injected slowly. A common side effect is pain in the injection site. Some adverse reaction include anaphylactic reactions (which is rare), yellow discoloration of the urine, peripheral neuropathy in chronic use, and abnormal heart rhythm.


Clients with know history of allergic reaction to D-panthenol or other vitamin B complex medication are contraindicated. Also, those with liver diseases and tobacco intoxication are contraindicated in taking Vitneurin.


Store D-panthenol in a cool dry place with a temperature of less than 25 degrees Celsius but do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.


Each 2 ml ampule contains D-panthenol 50 mg/2ml, Thiamine 100 mg, Cobalamin 1000 mcg, Pyridoxine 50 mg.

Important Precautions

Clients who are hypersensitive to D-panthenol are prescribed with oral medication as considered by the physician.

Dosage and administration

The dose for D-panthenol is 1 ampule per day injected intramuscularly. Before administration determine first if the size of the muscle is appropriate to the amount of medication to be injected. Check the expiration date before withdrawing the medication. Observe hand hygiene and other infection control procedures when preparing for the injection. Withdraw the medication from the ampule and expel all excess air bubbles. The site of injection should be free of skin lesions, tenderness, swelling harness or localized inflammation, and one that has not been used frequently. The injection should alternate each site to avoid pain. The site should be cleaned with an alcohol swab. Remove the needle guard without contaminating the needle. Grasp the muscle and insert the needle at a 90 degree angle. Aspirate first before injecting the contents to be sure it did not hit a blood vessel. Disposal of the needles and syringes should follow proper protocols.
